Artist and Photographer : 2016-2019
Over 3-years I worked regularly with Newstead Youth Club, creating projects that support young members to get creative and find ways to share this with their communities. In 2018 we joined a wider project, Sherwood Forest on Your Doorstep – a Heritage Lottery funded programme engaging young people to explore their relationship with the history of their village and landscape of the area. I worked with Newstead young people and artists Rebecca Lee and David Severn using maps, making, photography and sound recordings to build work that the young people edited and shared on the project’s website, contributing to local archives and displays in social spaces in the village.
The wider project includes a perambulation of the medieval boundary of Sherwood Forest – a 16-stage walk across Nottinghamshire for artists, historians and walkers to enjoy, discuss and experience the contemporary landscape through the seasons. I photographed 5 of these stages.
